She Walks In Shadows delve into H.P. Lovecraft’s depths

Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Paula R. Stiles were the editors of the marvelous Innsmouth Magazine, which published its last issue last summer. But they have not been resting in the interim — if anything, in fact, it seems like they have revved their engines, releasing the She Walks In Shadows anthology, a brand new collection of H.P. Lovecraftian fiction and art from women creators.

H.P. Lovecraft does not accurately have the best print record when it comes to being drafted by women. Ought such in mind, twenty-five feminine authors and about a dozen artists have gathered to summon what could be one of the neatest H.P. Lovecraftian anthologies to date.

The anthology, titled She Walks In Shadows is a re-imagined version of the same elder and most favorite H.P. Lovecraft novels but re-written from the perspective of his female characters.

Ladies from around the world delve into H.P. Lovecraftian depths, penning and illustrating a variety of uncanny horrors. The pale and secretive Lavinia Whatley wanders through the woods, Asenath is a precocious teenager with an attitude, and the Ancient Egyptian pharaoh Nitocris has found a new body in distant America. And do you have time to hear a word from our beloved mother, Shub-Niggurath?

Just in case you do, She Walks In Shadows is a defiant, destructive, terrifying, and harrowing anthology, as the women in She Walks In Shadows are both abnormalities and fountainheads, protagonists and devourers.

In case you are questioning if She Walks In Shadows is nothing but retellings of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories, the answer would be no. It is rather, a mixture of characters or entities who appear in his stories and wholly original work inspired by his writing.
