Opeth’s Swedish hardship repetitively sustained them under the flag of the progressive rockish fondnesses with all its musical consistency often redefined, picturesque forsooth extemporaneous evolution while emphatically unshadowed by a glamorous taunted intersphere of melancholic auras. Somehow, Opeth’s melodramatic vibe kept waving amidst sorrowful contours. Antagonistic phantoms of a past that still haunts them in a meek manner, I dare say. Favorably, for the Mexican devotees of the act, and in the meager trajectory of their North American tour, Opeth will be performing in their lands this forthcoming weekend.

It is said that Opeth will be hailing their Hispanic acolytes with songs conveyed from their last decade, moreover debuting live in North America the new ‘Pale Communion’ setlist. Their tardiest album was released on August 25th, 2014, through reputable record label Roadrunner Records.

Their profoundly foreseen return to Mexico is sealed with three dates, recurring from July 10th to the 12th, initiating their embracing on El Escena, located in Monterrey, and the last two remaining dates include their presence at Circo Volador on Distrito Federal, both locations in Mexico City.

Prices vary, as commonly practiced, however the pre-sales for the shows already ended. Currently, concert tickets are settled at the price of $48.76 for Mexico City, Federal District. Contemplating ticket sales for Monterrey, the range of prices is as follow:

  • VIP: $69.50 ($57.61.00, plus $11.53 for service charges)
  • Balcony:  $55.38 ($46.13, plus  $9.23 for service charges)
  • Preferential: $51.9 ($43.25, plus $8.65 for service charges)
  • General: $38.06 ($31.72, plus $6.34 for service charges)

Nonetheless, tickets can be obtained for both locations without further service fees if directly purchased through Soriana, Blockbuster, Innova Sport and Farmacias Del Ahorra. This if the payment process is either by effective, or credit card transaction.

Subsequent to Mexico, Opeth will be traveling to Costa Rica. Attending to any further information regarding ticket sales and the opening acts supporting their performance in Costa Rica, resulted in an inability to infer any appropriate information for the present time.

Directing to Chile, Opeth will be performing on Chilean soil on July 17th, ought as openers one of the most recognizable Chilean doom, death metals acts, Poema Arcanvs. The Chilean act is currently producing their imminent new studio record, still untitled. This is the third comeback of Opeth to Chile, where they before this time presented themselves back in 2009 and 2012, at Teatro Caupolicán.  The return of Opeth to Chilean lands has been highly praised, leading to the sell out of their special promotional entrances (limited to 500 tickets) in a record time of less than twenty-four hours after the official announcement. Remaining show tickets cost within $33.9 to $50.85 US Dollars, plus service fees.

In which concerns to their show in Argentina though, and sadly for our Argentinian supporters, the single information we managed to deduce is that they will be performing at Groove, and tickets are sold for the sum of $59.66, directly through Ticketek.

Opeth will be completing their tour on July 19th on Brazilian ground, most precisely at the Carioca Club, located in the city of São Paulo. In all truthiness, Brazilian editors have been doing an excellent work promoting the arrival of the Swedish act to their country, by doing a bulky exposure of the act throughout the local media; be it newspapers, magazines, or even television channels. The promotional agency that is bringing Opeth to Brazil, Agência Sob Controle, lately announced that there is less tickets left for purchase through Ticket Brazil, Clube Do Ingresso and Carioca Club E Metal CDs (located in Santo André), which clearly indicates a successful event to take place. Brazilian tickets range from $144,46, plus service fees.

Last event Opeth performed in Brazil was on April 1st, 2012, at the same Carioca Club, however, they debuted in Brazil in April 5th, 2009, at Santana Hall, also located in São Paulo.

‘Pale Communion’ was a record that signaled the dismissal of Mikael Åkerfeldt guttural vocals, which also produced the record alongside with the ingenious mixing skills of Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree. Adding with the participation of Martín Méndez as bass player, Martin Axenrot behind the drums, Fredrik Åkesson on guitar and Joakim Svalberg on keyboards.

Opeth’s latest studio offering was the acts follow-up to their magnificent yet controversial, ‘Heritage’ album which despite the many sorts of responses amongst the act’s admirers ended up winning quite of an overwhelming praising. I sustained the chance to listen to ‘Pale Communion’ already and what I can clearly attest that the album resounds to Opeth’s earlier compositions, somehow identified in-between the modern touch presence in ‘Damnation’ (2007) and later esoteric ‘Heritage’ (2001), a musical journey that progressively trans-flows way back to the old ‘Orchid’ (1995) era.

  1. ‘Eternal Rains Will Come’
  2. ‘Cusp Of Eternity’
  3. ‘Moon Above, Sun Below’
  4. ‘Elysian Woes’
  5. ‘Goblin’ [Instrumental]
  6. ‘River’
  7. ‘Voice Of Treason’
  8. ‘Faith In Others’
  9. ‘Solitude’
  10. ‘Var Kommer Barnen In’

Back when the album was released, the subsequent statement was released to consolidate Opeth’s position toward negative criticism:

[blockquote cite=”Mikael Akerfeldt”]If it sounds like us, that’s good. And if it sounds like something we don’t know, that’s also good. This album has some parts that sound like us and some parts that sound kind of new too. It’s a bit heavier than ‘Heritage’ at times and it’s a bit more melodic. I think it should be a bit easier to get into this record because there’s a lot of focus on the melodies. We’re a progressive band. Sometimes we sound like a metal band and sometimes we don’t.[/blockquote]

To reckon is that on this particular North American tour, Sweden’s Opeth are commemorating their twenty-five career anniversary with a special appearance at London’s Palladium on August 18th. The especial celebrational event has been called of An Evening With Opeth, and will tally with the exclusive full play of their ‘Ghost Reveries’ album on its wholly.

Unfortunately for me as an Opeth supporter and avid wooer of the Swedish scene, they did not announce any dates for Colombia at this time. Perhaps in a not so distant future we can have the pleasure to receive them once again in Colombia and undergo the current alterations of the act, as their appearance would settle timeless in the hearts of plenty.
