In her book ‘Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus,’ English author Mary Shelley tells the story of young scientist Victor Frankenstein, who performs an unconventional scientific experiment that results in the creation of a hideous but intelligent creature.
When Shelley was eighteen, she began writing the story; when she was twenty, the book was released.
In 1818, the first edition was published in London under an assumed name. The second edition, released in France in 1823, has Shelley’s name.
