Swedish melodic death metal act At The Gates are currently planning to broadcast via live streaming their forthcoming concert on Monday, April 6th via Yahoo! Music directly from the infamous House Of Blues in Chicago, this while engaging on a triumphant revival road trip alongside American hardcore punkers Converge, doom masters Pallbearer, and British label-mates Vallenfyre. The concert will take place in Chicago as aforementioned, and has been declared as a very special live stream audit to be exclusively held by Yahoo! Music.

This unique live performance is part of the Decibel Magazine Tour. A tour that holds the betterment of their highly-acclaimed freshest offering ‘At War With Reality’, an album that signaled the return of the Swedish old-fashioned Gothenburg styled melodic death metal act back to the metal spheres and worldwide notorieties.

[blockquote cite=”At The Gates”]At The Gates has teamed up with Live Nation and Yahoo! to live-stream their April 6th concert live from Chicago, IL. This is one of 365 concerts to stream over a 12-month period on the Live Nation Channel on Yahoo! Screen.[/blockquote]

Metal fans can tune in on April 6th at 23:15 to Yahoo! Screen, in order to attend the live streaming performance. The stream will be available thru Yahoo! Screen on iOS, Android, Mobile Web, desktop, and Smart TV platforms including Apple TV, Roku, and Xbox 360.

Besides the live streaming to take place on April 6th, At The Gates will release a 7″ EP (with a split side with label-mates Voivod) to accompany their upcoming tour. The said release will feature At The Gates bonus track ‘Language Of The Dead’ from the ‘At War With Reality’ recording seasons (track that has not been released so far in a vinyl edition). Canadians Voivod will be contributing with a novel record, entitled ‘We Are Connected’. The EP is a double A-sided, meaning that each act will have their side of the vinyl edition, splitting their reversed front covers as well. Interesting enough is that both reversed front covers will come with the artwork of Voivod’s drum player, Michel Langevin.

The 7″ EP is available in the following limited worldwide editions:

  • 1,000 copies black vinyl
  • 500 copies white vinyl
  • 500 copies transparent red vinyl

The 7″ EP will be available through At The Gates official site during their North American tour, as well as possible thru CMS Distro.

Meanwhile, At The Gates have published a full documentary video alluring to their entitled ‘2006 Slaughter Of The Soul’ which can be watched at YouTube here. The half-hour film observes the act firmly during their recording sessions of their genre-defining 1995 album, ‘Slaughter Of The Soul’, which after liberation installed themselves as the influential’s of the melodic death metal scene rising from Gothenburg, Sweden. The album also encouraged to spawn infinite death metal acts across the country, following their unique and pioneering melodic music formula that survives from present times.

It is confirmed that At The Gates will be entering the studio this year to record their newest offering, which should be released in the fall.

[blockquote cite=”At The Gates”]So, here we are almost 24 years since the birth of At The Gates, and some 18 more years since our latest album ‘Slaughter Of The Soul’. A lot of years have passed, and we have embarked on some life-changing reunion tours and shows the last couple of years.

So, why make a new album you might ask, and why now? Well, what we learned from the last couple of years hanging out and playing shows together, is that we enjoy what we do to the fullest extent. We love playing music together, and we love to hang out with friends. But, as a musician, we constantly write new music. It’s a huge part of our identities. We are fully aware that we have made some very drastic statements in interviews as well as the closing words on the DVD about the longevity of At The Gates, but things change, situations change and people change. When Anders [Björler] sent the first song last summer, we had zero expectations of the outcome. We only knew one thing – That it sounded amazing! At the time, we weren’t even sure there would be an album, but as things progressed, more songs came into existence, and we knew we were on to something great.

We know you are all curious about the new material, and to make a simple explanation of where we are at musically, we would describe it as a perfect mix between early At The Gates and ‘Slaughter Of The Soul’ era At The Gates, trying to maintain the legacy and the history. We chose Century Media Records as a worldwide partner for the upcoming album. We have all been friends for years with people at the label. Jonas & Anders have a history with The Haunted there (as well as Adrian with Paradise Lost).[/blockquote]

At our end, we will be expecting for news and further information regarding this matters so that we can keep you refreshed on the progress of their future album.
