Vinyl became more of a fetish these days. Not only for those into more extreme looks and the cover arts, but also for those that are drawn to the sound of a needle surfing through a record. Those subtle noises may improve the listening experience to those keen into listening to them. Most of those people who had that old sound fetish are more than pleased to see contemporary bands from different genres take interest in releasing those precious vinyl versions of albums that made impact on the digital world. So, here comes Pig Destroyer to take on the vinyl format for the pleasure of all.
Pig Destroyer, grindcore band by excellence, decided to take the challenge to convert their already rusty grind-ish meeting thrash sound from the digital world to the vinyl realms by re-issuing two of their more renowned albums. With the help of their label, Relapse Records, Pig Destroyer will release two deluxe colored vinyl for ‘Terrifyer’ and ‘Phantom Limb’. Both of these albums have long gone out of print which makes the expectations for this upcoming release something very rare. ‘Terrifyer’ was released in 2004 and it gave the band some serious recognition mostly by the first single ‘Gravedancer’ which was featured in the ‘Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland’ soundtrack which opened up the door for the band to be heard by a large quantity of skate enthusiasts. With ‘Phantom Limb’ the guys from Pig Destroyer were able to prove that they could not only keep up with the success of ‘Terrifyer’, but they were also incorporating more elements to their music to keep the feeling of the album fresh.
