Gothic games bridge past and present, inviting players to confront primal fears and moral conflicts while indulging in a richly dark aesthetic. From Vampyr’s moral dilemmas to Alice’s haunting trauma, gothic games weave psychological depth into historical settings, inviting players to navigate the shadows of humanity.

For many people who celebrate gothic culture in all its forms, gaming has generally always appealed. Usually containing elements of horror and the supernatural, plus so much more, gothic games have tended to do well since their creation. Of course, people who endorse gothic life do not always play gothic games, but they tend to stand out more than others. Alongside sampling DraftKings Spooky Roulette and other online roulette games, plus exploring global hits like Dota 2, goth gamers have plenty of time for some of the most iconic gothic games. In fact, it is a genre that has been filled with various masterpieces, with the genre’s distinct aesthetic and its plethora of terrifying villains providing more than enough for gothic gamers to enjoy.

With so many hit releases coming from this enthralling genre of gaming, let us remember some classic gothic games of old. After all, without them, this enticing gaming category probably would not be as prevalent as it is today.

Vampyr

If you are unfamiliar with the various gothic games that have been released over the years, then you probably would not be surprised to learn that many of them contain bloodthirsty vampires. That is exactly what is on offer in Vampyr, a 2018 release with a creature of the night on the hunt for blood. Also a doctor, Jonathan Reid’s cravings rarely subside as his quest for blood takes gamers on a gruesome journey. With side quests to complete and various avenues, the narrative can go down depending on the decisions you make, so this Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 favorite is worth
playing.

Blasphemous

While Blasphemous does not contain the amazingly crisp graphics many other titles on the list possess, it is still a truly excellent side-scroller to tackle. Released in 2019, the game is filled with various gothic settings and strong doses of death. Also containing biblical references, this battle-filled masterpiece shone on both PC and console when it was released, and it is easy to see why. If you want to add a gothic side-scroller to your gaming sessions, then Blasphemous is definitely worth considering.

Bloodborne

There are not many titles from this particular genre that have made the same type of impact as Bloodborne did when it was available to purchase in 2015. A PS4 gem, as its name suggests, blood and gore are at the forefront of this one. Also containing a gripping plot, uncovering the secrets of Yarnham is a must.
